Amy's Trip to
Sunny Isles, Miami
to visit Cheryl!!
Background -

Last October at the end of our Girls Trip to Disney we were supposed to say
goodbye to Cheryl at the Beach Club Villas.  However, we got the van packed
up and hit the road forgetting all about her coming to say goodbye!  I felt so
horrible so I promised her I'd come to visit this year!!!

Friday night I caught the last direct flight out of Baltimore on AirTran to Fort
Lauderdale.  We were late leaving BWI but made up some of the time in the
air and arrived at FLL at about 8 pm!  Cheryl and Kevin Jr's smiling faces
greeted me when I got off the plane!  We collected my one checked bag and
headed out.  We stopped at a restaurant that Cheryl has the best pizza in FL,
which is saying alot!!!  Then we headed to Sunny Isles!!!  We spent the next
several hours hanging in the courtyard of the complex where Cheryl's
apartment is!!!  Had a great time, laughing and chatting with her
neighbors/friends until after 2:00 am.  We finally hit the hay!!!  I was staying
at her parents place which is across the courtyard and up on the second level
from Cheryl!  It was VERY nice and peaceful there!!

Saturday we got up and Cheryl was ever so gracious that she had gotten me
some bagels and cream cheese for breakfast so I ate a half of a bagel and
headed down to Cheryl's place.  We were on our way shortly and headed to the
Zoo to meet up with Adie, Lisa & Karen.  I had decided that I should get a
scooter as my foot still isn't back to normal and I walk REALLY REALLY
slow and didn't want to hold everyone back!  Of course, we got there and they
had no more scooters, so a wheelchair it is.  Deja vu anyone?!

We really lucked out with the weather as it was overcast most of the day and
sprinkled a few times but no big deal!  For those of you who did not hear about
my experience with the turnstile, here goes.  The Miami MetroZoo is HUGE, it
has a monorail that you can take to the back of the zoo. So it was our plan to
take the monorail to the back of the zoo and make our way forward.  So we get
to the back of the zoo and get off the monorail.  At the bottom of the monorail
ramp there was this 10 ft tall turnstile.  Well Kevin Jr is pushing me and we
get into the turnstile and then we get stuck.  The turnstile was HEAVY and my
arms were too short to reach in front of me to help push us through and he
couldn't pull the turnstile behind him and push me at the same time.  Well
needless to say my "friends" were oh so helpful.  Lisa announces that someone
needs to help us because she's taking pictures, Adie was laughing so hard she
was on the ground and Cheryl was snapping pictures with my camera.  Thank
goodness for Karen because I'd probably still be stuck there!!!  I was laughing
so hard I was crying.  It was pretty hysterical.  Cheryl took pictures with my
camera while we were in the zoo, so here are some of the highlights!!!
