Hilo, "Big Island", Hawaii
Today we had booked our own excursion through Hawaii Green Tours. We got
off the ship and our tour guide was on the pier in the Warehouse. We waited
about 30 minutes for some other passengers that would be going with us and we
left around 10 am. It was a VERY full day and extremely worth the $50 a
person! We left the ship and went down Banyan Drive, on to the Liliuokalani
Japanese Gardens, to a Black Sand Beach, then Tony (our guide) dropped us
off in town at the Flea Market for about 20 minutes. We did a little shopping
and then it was on our way to Rainbow Falls. After Rainbow Falls we went to
the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens and then it was up to Volcano's National Park.
After we left the Park we went to the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm. We
got to try free samples and had delicious Macadamia Nut and Kona Coffee Ice
Cream! Once we left the Macadamia Nut Farm Tony was going to take us
shopping but we opted that we would rather go to the beach and look for some
Sea Turtles. We managed to find one! What a cool thing that was! After the
beach Tony took us back to the ship at 4:45 pm! We had a HUGELY filled day
and saw so much. Tony was wonderful and I highly recommend him! It was a
great bargain for what all we did and saw! Here are the pics from this day.
