| Carnival Spirit Alaskan Cruise Day 2 |
Day 2:
I had asked everyone to be ready and in the lobby at 9:45 am. Everyone was
there on time! I handed out everyone's luggage tags (I had made stickers to
affix to the luggage tags so no one had to spend time hand writing that info in).
A few minutes later 4 limos showed up from LimoJet Gold. Off we went to
Canada Place!
We arrived at Canada Place within 30 minutes as quoted and we immediately
were greeted by Porters who assisted everyone in getting there luggage off and
running to the ship :-). We then went to stand in line for Security. There were
maybe 30 people in front of us in line. Once they opened for business it went
very quickly and then we went to stand in line for Customs. Probably about 50
people or so in front of us here. We were through Customs pretty quickly and
then we were off to check in for the cruise. We were taken immediately from
the line to check in and then we sat for maybe 10 minutes and our boarding
group was called to board! We were on board at about 12:15 pm!!!
Once on board we headed to the Lido (Buffet) as per Carnival's request to not
go to our cabins until 1 pm. We all grabbed some lunch and hung around for a
bit until 1 pm and then we all dispersed to our cabins!
Everyone found goodies in their cabin. Scott and I had shared the wealth with
some points that we had to use or lose from Carnival's old rewards program so
each cabin received a bottle of champagne. Most everyone purchased Drink
Coupons. My father in law and brother in law sent Faye a dozen red roses and
some Drink Coupons! I had given my Mom and my Mother in law Photo
coupons as part of their Mother's Day Gift. I also gave Adele the same thing as
her birthday is right after they all return from Vancouver and I'll still be on the
cruise! Scott and I received some bar coupons from our most wonderful travel
agent in the world, Sue!!! All in all, everyone was thrilled!
Luggage started to arrive and as it did people were unpacking so I took
advantage and went from cabin to cabin verifying everyone received their
Champagne and State Room Credit they were due (Sue, everyone got theirs,
woohoo!!!) as well as double checking everyone's preferences for Shore
Excursions.
At 2:30 I went to the Shore Excursion Desk where they allowed me to book for
everyone since I had their Folio Numbers. We got every single excursion we
were hoping for including the one that had looked to be sold out on the web and
the one that she told me only had 14 slots left (we booked 9) of them! I was so
thrilled!
I then came back to the cabin and unpacked all my luggage. After I unpacked I
then made my rounds delivering everyone's tour tickets and receipts. I came
back to the room and grabbed my life jacket and went to the Muster Drill. I was
so disappointed that we actually set sail during the Muster Drill :-(. After
Muster Drill we all met up on deck to catch some of the sail away from
Vancouver.
After the sail away a few of us went down to the Fountain Cafe for the Cruise
Critic Meet & Greet that we had set up on our Roll Call. It was fun and we
were able to meet a few people and everyone as usual that we've met from
Cruise Critic was great!!!
After the Meet & Greet I went back to my cabin to get ready for dinner so that
we could go to the show. The first night they had the late seating show at 7 pm
since so many people traveled so far to get on board. The show started with the
Carnival Dancers & Singers doing a little "Fun Ship" number and then
comedian Stanley Ullman, who was great!
After the show we went and waited in the lounge outside the Dining Room until
it was time for Dinner. We went in at 8:15 and we were thrilled to find out we
are at a table (long one) for 12! We will just play musical chairs each night so
that we can all chat at one point in time.
After dinner some of the group went to the casino, some hit the hay and some of
us went to the Dance Club. We had a blast there! I said my goodnights around
11:00 pm and headed back to the cabin. I was just beat!
Scott came in around midnight and we went to sleep at about 12:15! I set the
alarm for 8 am!
